FROM THE AIRPORT

Hotel transfers:  Higher-end hotels offer a limousine service to and from the airport’s brand-new departure terminal that costs about US$22 one way and takes approximately 20-30 minutes.

Chinatown –From 6pm until late, food stalls sell both Chinese and local delicacies, ranging from porridge and fried insects to mont-lin-ma-yar (husband-and-wife cake).

Myanmar teashops –Watch the world go by at a teashop while enjoying thick, sweet tea. The most famous is Wuthering Heights on 33rd street, the artistic community’s hangout.

DAY TRIPPING

Twante –Noted for its pottery and cotton-weaving industries, the main attraction is the famous Shwe San Daw Pagoda. Take a three-hour boat trip along the Twente Canal.
