WE REMEMBER HER

After a battle with cancer, Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, shown here in her youth, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 in Siriraj Hospital on 2 January 2008.
Born in London in 1923, she went on to live in Germany and Switzerland. After returning to Thailand in 1950, the Princess began teaching French language and literature in Bangkok universities, and founded the Association of Teachers of French in Thailand in 1977. She was patron of several social welfare groups, including The Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer Foundation and The Kidney Foundation of Thailand.
Thailand’s Royal Household Bureau declared 100 days of mourning across the country until 11 April 2008.
